Salaam Souk Sisters!
Jummuah Mubarak! It’s been a while – if you’re wondering why – well, even the flower doesn’t bloom all year 😉
You may be familiar with the saying attributed to Imam Ali RA, “Be like the flower that gives its fragrance to even the hand that crushes it”. I’m just here to gently remind us all that in Islam, kindness is one of our biggest priorities to others. It’s easy to be kind to those we don’t know, a little easier to those we know deserve it but it’s extremely difficult to be kind to those who have made it apparent that they are not kind themselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The easiest way to start to combat this is to make a genuine duaa for that person. Pray that they find the error of their ways, that Allah forgives them and that they return kindness and mercy to another. You might make the duaa once and then soon after slip back into not wanting to show kindness again – just keep at it. At the end of the day, it’s about your heart and your soul, it’s not about them. We’ll only be judged by how we reacted, not by what they did.
May Allah forgive all our shortcomings. May He make us people of benefit and generosity and may He unite us as an ummah.
