Salaam Souk Sisters,
So think about this, “No matter how much money you make you’re still a failure if you haven’t built your Aakhirah”. It’s something that came up in a conversation I had recently. We all know it, but sometimes it’s worth it to take the time to let it sink in. If we’re all being honest, we spend a lot of time being absorbed in this world and it’s material things.
“Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children – like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.” [Al-Quran 57:20]
We are simple minds, built to have priorities and attractions that distract us from what we’re really here to do.
“If you were to rely upon Allah with the required reliance, then He would provide for you just as a bird is provided for, it goes out in the morning empty, and returns full.” [At-Tirmidhi]
Islam is about the balance we create. Let me repeat that, ‘WE create’. Don’t be distracted by what other people are doing. Only we will be responsible.
May Allah increase our ability to worship Him better. May He make our priorities the same of the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW. May He make us less distracted and attracted to that which does not matter.
