“Where faith meets fashion”
My Online Souk is about encouraging and supporting Muslim women through fashion to adorn the Hijab and feel good about it, look good in it and be proud of being Muslim. We believe in providing clothing that will you keep you covered and confident.
The journey began in 2013 when Sabeena felt the need to establish a love for modesty in her two daughters. She wanted them to have a positive and strong influence of what it means to be a Muslim. She felt that they should know that Hijab is not something to be ashamed of or shy of. It’s wearing Islam as your banner and that can empower you in so many ways.
She grew up in Botswana, studied in England, and lived in Canada for 6 years. Now, she can be found running her business happily from Johannesburg.
Jehan studied a Bachelor of Journalism at Rhodes University and majored in English and Graphic Design. After working in Durban for a short-while, she moved to Cape Town to study the one year intensive Islamic sciences course at the Madina Institute.
Together we have the vision of empowering Muslim women. We want to reinvigorate your love for the Islamic principle of modesty. We want you to reclaim the headscarf as something you’re proud and confident to wear.
If you’re a home-based business owner, like ourselves, we want to help you get your product out there! Find our details below to get in touch.
HIJAB STYLING WORKSHOPS
In addition to our online store, we host and run hijab styling workshops for women who have a common interest. Sabeena started these workshops because she loves recognising modesty as a journey that we’re all going through. With the workshops she has the opportunity to meet different Muslim women in the different stages of their life. She loves being inspired by them and also trying to help some of them into the Hijab space. “We all make each other fall more in love with what it means to be a Muslim woman.”
It’s our aim to facilitate a space where Muslim women can express their love and concerns about wearing Hijab and also meet new people! We hope to strengthen the Muslimah community by creating more events to meet and interact. If you have a group of ladies you would like to bring together for a workshop, contact us with the time, area and number of people.
We’ve received such warm and positive feedback from these workshops that it has encouraged us to keep striving to deliver more to people. Now you can find our tutorials and advice on our YouTube page as well our Inspiration page.
Enough about us, we want to hear about you!
